FAQ
How will this zine work?
Writers will have a fairy tale "assigned" to them to adapt into a fic between 1.5k and 2k words. We will have two artists assigned to each fic - one cover artist and one spot artist. The cover artist will create a "title page"/book cover style illustration, and the spot artist will be creating spot illustrations to accompany the fic (multiple small illustrations to accompany the fic - think like a classic storybook!) Writers and artists will work together over the course of the zine production schedule to create their contributions.
Does "X" count as a fairy tale?
Fairy tales don't have a strict definition, but the mods have agreed on some basic criteria for what counts as a "fairy tale" - a short story in the folklore genre that is not a myth (featuring gods or other divine beings), a legend (an exaggeration or embellishment believed to be historical fact), or a fable (meant to impart a moral lesson).
Can I sign up to be both an artist and a writer?
You are free to apply for either, but in order to maximize the number of contributors, you will only be selected for one.
Are there any requirements to contribute?
Our only requirement is that contributors are 18+. No previous zine experience required!
How are tales going to be assigned?
Writers will apply with preferences for characters/ships and specific tales with the ability to indicate a unique pitch, if they have one.

We can't guarantee a writer or artist will get their first preference, but we will do our best to make sure everyone gets an assignment they are happy about! We made this decision to make sure our zine contains a variety of tales and adaptations.
Will this project ship overseas?
Yes! This project will ship from Canada, and so any extenuating circumstances or other restrictions that might impact worldwide shipping will be shared at the time of preorders.
Do I need a beta reader?
All fics will be proof read by our moderators. You are free to ask for help beta reading for specific elements or use an outside beta reader!
What charity is this project donating to?
As of this time, we are currently still deciding what charity we will donate to, but we will announce as soon as we have made this decision. Thank you to everyone who made suggestions on our interest check!
